A branch of the National Gallery of Art, the crypt is dedicated to Medieval art.
Here you will find 15th to 19th century icons and religious art from various churches around the country.
The collection also contains a beautiful example of an iconostasis, the icon stand typical for the front of Orthodox churches.
The Alexander Nevsky Crypt is located in the basement of the Alexander Nevski Cathedral and is thus easy to find.
The crypt can be reached through a separate doorway, located to the left of the cathedral’s entrance.
Pictures are allowed.
